Stuff to do in London - The alternative London Tour

Ok so this isn't the bucket list, it'd just something to do. It's the day after the boot sale so I've kept this up for 3 days which is pretty good :D

So I was looking for stuff to do and came across http://www.alternativeldn.co.uk/

We went on the walking tour around the East End. Starting in Liverpool street, we walked through Brick Lane and Shoreditch ending up back at the city. The tour was based on street art but also some history lessons about the area which was very interesting. Seeing the only building in the world that has housed worship  for 4 different religions, finding out where bollards came from lol

Also got schooled about the war between graffitte and street art etc etc. It was pretty cool, there's a lot of talented artists out there and also non talented artists like the guy who stuck nut shells to a wall. I think I'm in the wrong career.

The tour guide, Ben Slow is an artist himself although he didn't show us his own work, ( found him on google http://www.slowbenart.com/ ) He was a very good tour guide, very knowledgable. I think he has the heart of a hippy, he detests the city and corporate brands, although I did see him us an iphone so - little bit confusing lol

Anyway check out the tours  - I recommend!

164 - Car Boot Sale

The morning after Holi. Floor still feels disgusting even though I wiped it. Couldn't sleep last night because the man with the party boat (I live by the river they live on it) was having a party. I usually don't mind I'm not a moaner, but when waking up at 4...

I don't know why boot sale is on my list, just intrigued I think. Well, we made our way as the sun rose and well... I won't be doing it again. After spending hours standing in the middle of junk central I felt like burning all my stuff to get rid of it. A woman spent about 20 minutes deliberating over a pile of cds then tried to return them. I fail to believe people enjoy this experience. Along with the change I took from my change collection I had 50 pounds so I can't complain. But never again. Maybe when I'm over 50...60.

102 -Holi festival

Holi festival is the first on my personal bucket list (not in order pf importance) Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated on a full moon in Feb / March. Everyone loves a full moon. Its also known as the festival of colours and you will see why.

Anyway, I haven't quiye accomplished this as I haven't been to India, that's still on the list, I can half tick it off though as I went to Holi One festival in London. Surprisingly we had good weather  too.

Holi is all about throwing paint - in this set up, once each hour everyone would get together and throw their powder paint at the same time. Having laughed at the goggles and face masks, Holi had its revenge on me by half blinding and choking me with powder. It is pretty awesome to be under a cloud of paint though.  There were djs and dance acts, all cool. After a while people realised that mixing the powder paint with beer or water would make it stick better so colourful liquids were soon flying through the air. It got repetitive after a few hours but I'd still definitely recommend it. I hope to go to one of the European Holi festivals next year.

When I got home a tonne of powder that wasn't there before spilled all over the floor. I'm still finding paint the next day!

84 - Sell all Your Junk on eBay and Make a Profit

Well, not sure about profit, does that mean sell it for more than I bought it? Anyway, I've always sold lots of junk on ebay and now that I need some money I am having a clearout.

Ebay doesn't seem to be as good as it was, this morning I sold a Nintendo Wii and all its bits on Gumtree. I am also selling other bits and pieces. Strangely even that kind of put me out of my comfort zone, having a stranger turn up outside my side to buy something from me. Naturally paranoid I was imagining him giving me fake money or grabbing the items and running. As it turns out he was a super polite Muslim man and its Ramadhan so that lessens the chance of wrong being done to me. :D

Selling at a car boot sale I think I neglected to put on the list, I will add it now, that was supposed to be on the list and I am going on Sunday and I am going to find some trash to sell :D

Meanwhile, take a look at my Etsy shop, this stuff isn't junk!

Welcome to Kick the Bucket (LIST!)

I'm 25 and on a mission, every week I want to post AT LEAST 1, if not more things 'to do before you die' here, rarely they will be big things like seeing a certain country, weekly if I haven't yet accomplished anything it may be something small like volunteering at a homeless shelter.

I bought a book called 101 things to do before you die (Richard Horne) which inspired me, also have a book of 365 things to do in London, so I will also be going to and posting about those places of interest.

I realise that I will not be taking my experiences with me when I die, I realise that life isn't about filling your time with meaningless acts of entertainment, however I do think I will learn a lot from stepping out of my comfort zone and getting things done.
